Sterling Ruby at the Saatchi


The Saatchi has a perfect viewing space for large pieces such as these. This is viewed from a balcony, then it is possible to go downstairs and look at the pieces from ground level too. The part I like about this piece is the ring – it makes me think of something from a shipwreck, dragged out of the sea after years, with seaweed all over it.

Actually, I don’t really like Sterling Ruby’s work here, but I’m really curious at how it was made. The ultra high gloss – is that from urethane?
